"Brian it has been eight great years of learning,  hard work, with ups and downs.  Thank you for always giving me the opportunity to learn and grow as a horsewoman.  You always provided the best care for my horses.  Thanks for all the great memories."

Since I began with Brian when I was 13 (which was 14 years ago!), I have grown up with the STC family.  As a birthday present from my family when I was 16, I got to take an “old” STC horse we had at home to a class A show.  After I won the class, my mom said that in order to take him to Regionals, I would need to work for it. Brian gave me the chance to become a part of the team to help me out.  Ever since then, I’ve been attached to Brian’s hip.  I was able to continue to work for STC throughout the summers of my high school and college years.  I cherish the memories of those summers.

Because I have spent so much time at the barn doing every job possible, I feel I really know how Brian works with his horses at all levels.  He has always been eager to teach the “whys” and “hows” to achieve something new that would make me a better horse handler and rider.  I don’t think I have ever met a person, other than my own father, who works as hard and or is as dedicated as Brian is.

As I continued to grow up in the STC family, I was lucky enough that Brian found the “perfect” horse for me and my family.  He knew once he saw Renegade that we would be a great match and he was right.  Because Renegade was just a junior horse when we bought him, he needed more developing… but not as much as I did!  Brian made sure that I knew how to ride my horse; not just sit there and pose.  This training of me took a lot longer than the training of my horse but Brian never gave up because he believed that we would accomplish great things together.  I am so thankful that he spent all of that time with me.  When I went to my first National show, I was ready.  For months prior to the show I trained multiple days a week on different horses so that I could practice my skills and not screw up my horseJ.  I know when they called me as a Top Ten rider that it was because of all of the work and trust Brian had put into us.  It was one of the most exciting moments of my life.

I look forward to continuing to “grow” with the STC family.  I know I am lucky to have such a great coach and friend who has been such a big part of my life.

I have been a client of Brian's for over ten years.  I don't know anyone who works harder or has more integrity than Brian.  When I first started looking for a trainer, I went to a horseshow and watched various trainers work with horses.  I was impressed with the way Brian always seemed to be working a horse and I liked the way his horses looked. It was obvious once I took a horse to STC that he worked just as hard when he was home at his own barn.  Deciding who will train your horse is a big decision; it's a big investment both financially and emotionally.

There are so many things I appreciate about the way Brian trains horses.  He excels at evaluating a horse and then working as a team with the owner so the horse can reach its full potential.  He is talented as well as self confident enough to learn from others, but he has his own distinct style.  I have sent a number of horses to Brian ranging from horses that were destined to be family pets to a National level performance horse.  I t didn't matter which of my horses were at STC; I knew they were all being worked and taken care of.

I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of STC.  The friends I have made while at the barn or at shows are very special to me.  However the most important thing to me is that Brian has added so much to the enjoyment of my horse ownership.  Along with being wonderful riding horses, every horse that Brian has trained for me came home happier, more confident, and with much better manners.

I look forward to more fun filled years with STC.

Trust is such a critical element in choosing a trainer.  I first met Brian in 1981.In all those years; I have always known him to be honest and trustworthy.  His clients can be assured that their horses are being regularly trained and conditioned, and that he will be straightforward with his appraisal of their abilities. STC is all about integrity.

We purchased a mare based on her temperament for my novice husband, realizing that she may well have limited showing abilities.  She has been at STC for the third year and has far exceeded our expectations as a show horse.  She enters the ring ultimately conditioned, her manners are right on every time, and needless to say she has been very successful.  In fact, more successful than any horse I have owned in 37 years.

But, most of us that have been showing for that many years know it is about more than just winning.  It has to be fun. We love the family atmosphere at STC.  We know in our heart that Brian is in our corner at all times. I do not want to forget to mention that we appreciate Pam supporting us from the sidelines as well.

Thank you STC! We are having a blast!

In Tuscola, Illinois you will find a gem of a horse trainer, Brian Scoggins.    After watching Brian for several years when we decided to take our daughter's Horse to a trainer, he was the only one for the job.   Even though we resided in Michigan, in years past we admired Brian's quality of horses in the show ring and also Brian's down to earth way about himself.  If our daughter was going to go to the top she needed not only someone that could train horses but could inspire a rider to compete and succeed even through disappointments.  We have watched Brian take our green gangly Chestnut and transform him into a National Contender in only one year.  But more than that he has inspired our daughter Mary to always become a better rider, not to settle anything mediocre.    We have seen first hand how Brian  interacts with our daughter, as parents we can honestly say we would trust no other trainer.  He inspires Mary to become better than she was the ride before.  After a disappointing ride in the ring, we have seen him walk with her back to the stalls firmly correcting her and then put his arm around her and tell her, "It's OK kiddo, it will be better on the next ride".  So with seven top fives and Youth Nationals all the way to the finals, we say "Thank you Brian".  Can't wait for 2008, as Mary matures to AOTR.

THE FORD FAMILY
Well Brian and Pam are out of town, and since I'm saying good things I just
say this.

Scoggins Training Center
When family obligations took me away from working my younger horses to their
fullest potential I had no other person in mind but Brian for the job. Then
when my son decided to go into riding it was also Brian I turned to, and
when my youngest is ready she to will be in Brian's 'backyard' for lessons
and showing. I trust Brian with all of 'my children' horse and human.

Brian is a no-nonsense kind of guy with ethics and honesty that are not easily
found. The evaluations Brian does are honest and true, and if he feels a
horse has possibilities every effort will be made to bring out that
potential, while being fair and sound with the horse. Taking the time and
creating an atmosphere of ease and comfort for the owner and horse to learn
equally well. If given the time and freedom to do what is needed Brian puts
out a good strong minded horse, that is not nervous or leery of doing its
job. I have had horses that I will bring home let sit for months and jump on
and they haven't lost a step. Only a good solid calm, knowledgeable horseman
can accomplish this, and that I will say about Brian Scoggins.
